Harry Garabedian

Middletown, RI - Harry Garabedian, 85, of 10 Wood Terrace, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Violet Boyajian Garabedian. Born in Lawrence, MA, on July 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Hagop and Osanna Ashdjian Garabedian. Mr. Garabedian served in the United States Navy for over 20 years retiring in 1964, he served during WWII and the Korean War. After his Navy career he went on to work in the public works department at NUSC as a welder for another twenty years. Mr. Garabedian also worked in the maintenance department at the Best Western. He was a member of the VFW and St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence. He is survived by his children, Anne M. Pacheco of Somerset, MA and Victoria Tori M. Byrd of Middletown, Gary M. Garabedian of Barrington, RI, Jack K. Garabedian of New Bedford, MA, George S. Garabedian of Middletown. He also leaves his grandchildren, Melanie A. Creador and John G. Pacheco of Somerset, MA, Kevin M. Garabedian, Kyle A. Byrd and Alexis V. Byrd all of Middletown, RI, and his great grandsons Joseph Creador, Brian Creador, Noah Pacheco and Sean Pacheco all of Somerset, MA. He is also survived by his brother Varoujan Garabedian of Onset, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Charles Garabedian. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010, from 4-8 in the Memorial Funeral Home.His funeral will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010, at 10:00AM, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Camp Haiastan, 722 Summer Street, Franklin, MA 02038 or to a charity of ones choice.
