Harry R. Paquin, Jr. of Middletown, beloved husband of Shirley (Wentworth) Paquin for 70 years, died Sunday January 13 at Newport Hospital. Born in Portsmouth March 26, 1923, he was the son of the late Harry R. and Leah (DeLisle) Paquin. He was the owner of Harrys Auto Sales in Portsmouth for many years. An auto enthusiast at an early age, he operated Paquins Service Station in Portsmouth as a young man and owned midget race cars and stock cars that raced on Southern New England tracks in the late 1940s and early 1950s. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed winters in Florida and traveling the East Coast in their motor homes.Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Linda P. Cook of Portsmouth, two sons and their spouses, Bob and Dotty Paquin of Columbia, CT and Douglas and Theresa Paquin of Middletown, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and sisters Irene Hansen of Florida, Janice Paquin of Middletown and Annette Hibbad of Tiverton. He was predeceased by his sister Elsie Lorence and brothers Ralph Paquin and Wilfred Paquin. Respecting his wishes, there will be no calling hours and the funeral will be private.
