Hazel May Green Maloney Newport, RI - Hazel May Green Maloney, 83, of 31 Sheffield Avenue, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of the late Robert Paul Maloney. Born in Eustis, FL, on January 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Grandville Nevin and Eva Matteson Green.Mrs. Maloney was a graduate of Coventry High School, Class of 1940. She was also a 1947 graduate of the Newport Hospital School of Nursing. She had worked as a nurse in the nursing cadet corp at Newport Hospital during WWII. She then stayed on and worked as a registered nurse at the Newport Hospital from 1947 to 1960. She was also an industrial nurse at Raytheon from 1960 to 1985. She had also worked as a secretary at Quonsett Point. Mrs. Maloney was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newport. She was a member of the former Pocasset Country Club and a member of the Green Valley Country Club. She was an avid golfer and reader. She loved to dance and enjoyed needlework. She is survived by a son Robert P. Maloney of Portsmouth, RI, two daughters Jane L. Maloney of Newport, RI and Elizabeth A. Covel of Bethel Park, PA eight grandchildren Matthew Ward, Michael Ward, Joseph Covel Jr., Todd Covel , David Covel, Liam Maloney, Curran Maloney, and Mehler Maloney, and three great grandchildren Julia Ann Ward, Aidan Ward and Kendall Covel, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Gladys Viola Pardoe. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery, Brown?s Lane, Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006, from 4-7 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.
