Hector L. Jenkins

Hector L. Jenkins, 60, of 117 Park Holm, Newport, RI, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at Newport Hospital. Born in Jacksonville, NC on March 18, 1949, he was the son of the late Durant and Margaret Lanier Jenkins.Hector Jenkins moved to Rhode Island with his family when he was a young boy, and has called Newport home ever since. He served his country in the US Marine Corps, receiving a Purple Heart during his tours in Vietnam. Hector worked as an electrician his entire career, as did all of his brothers. Fishing and riding motorcycles with his brothers was how enjoyed to spend his free time, as well as time as a life member of the VFW and a former member of the FOPA.He is survived by two sisters Shirley Faye Smith of Portsmouth, RI , and Betty Arnett of Woodbridge, VA, and four brothers Benjamin Jenkins of Middletown, RI, David Jenkins of Middletown, RI, Thomas Jenkins of Newport, RI, and Darrell Jenkins of Portsmouth, RI, and his companion of the last 7 years Rowena Smith of Newport, RI.
