Newport, RI - Helen Goulios Bitzileos 78, of 1 Katzman Place, Newport, RI, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the loving wife of Peter Bitzileos.Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Spiros and Evangelea Tompros Goulios.From 1947-1969, Mrs. Bitzileos had worked as the manager of the Oyster Bay Restaurant on Long Wharf, Newport, and a restaurant that her parents owned. She was a member of St. Spyridons Greek Orthodox Church and served on several committees. She was a past member of the St. Helen and Constantine Church of Brooklyn, NY, past member of St. Demetrious Church of Norfolk, VA, and a past member of St. Sophia Church of Winter Haven, FL. She was an active member of the Philoptochos Society in Winter Haven, FL. Besides her husband of 52 years, she is survived by her daughter Lea Henry of Newport and her son in law Brian Henry and grandchildren Kristen Henry, Nicole Henry and Kevin Henry all of Middletown, RI. She also leaves a sister Mary Goulios of Newport. She was the sister of the late Penolope Ducette.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 9:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in St. Spyridons Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport. Burial will be in Island Annex Cemetery in Newport.Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 5-9pm, in the funeral home.
