Helen Elizabeth Shannon

Portsmouth, RI - Helen Elizabeth Silverbrand Shannon, 94, of 56 Holman Street, Portsmouth, RI, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. Born in Omaha, NB on October 31, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Mabel Darton Silverbrand.Mrs. Shannon attended Eastern Nazarene College in Wollaston, MA. She worked as an administrative secretary for 30 years at Boston University. Mrs. Shannon was a member of the Portsmouth Untied Methodist Church and the Portsmouth Garden Club. She sang with the Sweet Adelines, a women?s barber shop chorus. Mrs. Shannon was an avid skier and loved traveling all over the world. She is survived by her daughter Judith Stickney and her husband Blaine of Portsmouth, her grandchildren Jon Stickney of Tampa, FL, Mark Stickney of Cedar City, UT, Elizabeth Devecchi and her husband Fausto of Ft. Wayne, IN, and her great grandchildren, Alessia, Francesca, and William Devecchi.She was the sister of the late Edmund Silverbrand and Florence Hedman.A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, at 2:30 PM, at Portsmouth United Methodist Church, 2732 East Main Road, Portsmouth.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840, or Tiverton Animal Control Pound Sakonnet Veterinary Hospital attention Kennel, 1320 Main Rd, Tiverton, RI 02878.
