Middletown, RI - Helen Danakas Hagopian, 91, formerly of 45 Powell Avenue, Newport died Friday, May 21, 2010 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown.She was the wife of the late Leon V. Hagopian.Born in Providence, RI on June 26, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Panagiota Stappas Danakas.Mrs. Hagopian work as a teachers aide in the special education department of the Newport Public Schools. She was a member of St. Spyridon Church and the Philoptochos Society.She leaves her daughter A. Elaine Brown and her husband Stanley of Portsmouth, RI, her grandsons Kevin V. Brown and his wife Elizabeth of Attleboro, MA and Gregory P. Brown and his wife Tasha of Coventry, RI as well as four great grand children Madison E. Brown and Nickolas V. Brown, Zackary S. Brown and Benjamin F. Brown, along with 3 nieces and a nephew.She was the sister of the late Charles Danakas and George Danakas Her funeral will be held on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Funeral Service at 11:00am in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport.Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 23 from 4 -7 pm in the funeral home.
