Middletown, - Helen Koohy King, 67, of 6 A Woolsey Road Middletown, died Saturday, September 27, 2003 of complications of a stroke at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Launey King. Born in Fall River, MA on September 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Jabbour Koohy. Mrs. King raised three small children alone as well as working for the Woolworth Lunch Counter in Middletown and then the Ames Lunch Counter.Mrs. King along with her daughter Joanne and grandson Robert were graduates of the Middletown Adult Learning Center in 1987, the three were featured in an article in Newport This week of three generations graduating together.She enjoyed playing cards with her friends as well as an avid Bingo player in the Middletown Kof C. Mrs. King loved Ocean Drive and walking on Easton?s Beach. She enjoyed movies and collecting movies. She also enjoyed traveling and trips to Atlantic City, glitter and dolling up.Mrs. King enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and grandchildren and loved the Christmas Season. Mrs. King gave to many Charities including the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association, The Humane Society and the Easter Seals. She is survived by two daughters Joanne King of Exeter, RI, and Lisa King of Tiverton, RI, her son Launey King Jr. of Tiverton, RI, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews She was sister of the late George Koohy, Sam Koohy, John Koohy, Dan Koohy, and Ruth Couturier Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at 11:00AM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Donations in her memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals87 Oliphant Lane Middletown, RI 02842.
