Middletown, - Helen C. Douglas, 83, of 116 Prospect Avenue Middletown, died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI. She was the wife of 47 years to Robert I. Douglas of Middletown, RI. Born in Newport, Rhode Island on January 26, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John Dennis and Helen Coffey Curran. Mrs. Douglas worked at the Newport Naval Base as a secretary retiring in 1958. Mrs. Douglas graduated from Rogers High School class of 1938. She was a member of the Town Howlers Square Dancing for 12 years. Mrs. Douglas was a member of the Edward King House and was involved in art classes and line dancing. She is survived by her husband Robert I. Douglas of Middletown, RI, and her daughter Anne P. Douglas of Middletown, RI.She was the sister of the late Edward Joseph Curran. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport followed with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00am in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport.
