Portsmouth, RI - Helen Mary Buianowski Obara, 87, of 32 Grain Terrace, Portsmouth, RI, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at the Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI.She was the wife of the late Theodore J. Obara. Born in Framingham, MA on July 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Kazimira Slovik Buianowski.Mrs. Obara worked for Bovano of Cheshire Connecticut as a decorator of glass enamel on copper sculptures. She was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church, worked with the feast committee, was a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center, sang in the Island Senior Chorus of Portsmouth, and worked in the Thrift Shop for 10 years. She was also a member of the Motivated Pilgrims of Rhode Island Stock Club. She adored her family and was dedicated to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her son Robert J. Obara and his wife Patricia Muszynski Obara of Portsmouth, RI, her daughter Patricia Obara Scudder and her husband Walter of Assonet, MA, her brother Henry Buianowski of Framingham, MA, her sister Josephine Buianoff of Oakland, CA, her brother-in-law, Don Mills of Portsmouth, RI, her grandchildren, Susan Obara Flachsbart and her husband Joshua of Chicago, IL, Michael Obara and his wife Johanna Stoos Obara of North Kingstown, RI, Scott Obara of Burlington, VT, Katherine Obara of Providence, RI, Amy Scudder O?Connor and her husband Michael of Palmer Alaska and Jeffrey Scudder of Assonet, MA, and her great grandchildren, Madeline Flachsbart of Chicago, IL and Aspen Helen O?Connor of Palmer, Alaska.She was the sister of the late Wanda Mills of Portsmouth. Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011, from 4-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 10:00am, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be private.
