Newport, RI - Helen C. Koulouvardis Nelson, 59, of 16 Gooseberry Road, Newport, RI, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI.She was the wife of the late Frederick Grover Nelson. Born in Newport, RI on June 11, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Lola Rozes Koulouvardis.Mrs. Nelson graduated from Rogers High School and Roger Williams College. She worked for Packer Braman and Newport Insurance Group in commercial insurance. Helen also owned and operated her family business Charles 5 10 with her husband and brother. Mrs. Nelson was a lifetime member of St. Spyridons Church and was also on the Ladies Philoptochos Society at the church.Helen enjoyed spending her time with friends and family. She loved going to the theatre, going out to dinner, attending a garden show or a casual night at home with family. Her travels with family brought her to Greece, the Caribbean, Bermuda and even kayaking in Maine. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Kristine Pinheiro and her husband John of Newport, RI, her brother Harry Koulouvardis of Florida, her aunt Catherine Koulouvardis of Newport, and her uncle George Koulouvardis, also of Newport, and many nieces, nephews and loving family and friends. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 20 from 5:00-7:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 21 at 10:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a funeral service at 11:00am in St. Spyridons Greek Orthodox Church, Thames Street, Newport.
