Portsmouth, - Helen T. (Aguiar Pavao) Petersen, 80, of Portsmouth, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center Fall River, MA.She was the wife of Carl E. Petersen. Born in Fall River, MA on Feb. 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Richard) Aguiar. Mrs. Petersen resided in Fall River until moving to Rhode Island in 1973. She attended Blessed Sacrament School and was a former communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. She was employed at the former Schnierson and Son and Craig Byron (Stella Anne) of Fall River and was a member of the I.L.G.W.A. Besides her husband of 40 years she leaves her children, William R. Pavao and his wife Nancy of Swansea, MA, Thomas C. Petersen and his wife Jean of Olivet, SD, David C. Petersen and his wife Pauline of Bourne, MA, Eric S. Petersen and his wife June of Karney, NE, Carl A. Petersen and his wife Suzanne of Altoona, PA and Noreen Strain and her husband Walter of Butler, PA. Helen also leaves fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Helen was the sister of the late Arthur R. Aguiar Her funeral will be held on Thursday September 12, 2013 at 10:00am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the funeral home.
