Henry Burrill Ward, 83, of Stockton Drive, Middletown, RI, died on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara E. Moreau Ward.Born in Newport, RI on September 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Harry A. and Gladys Langley Ward.Mr. Ward was a civil engineer at the Public Works Center at the Newport Naval Base for 38 years including a 3 month work assignment in Vietnam in 1966. He attended public schools in Newport and was a 1944 graduate of Rogers High School. Following high school, Mr. Ward enlisted and served in the US Navy during World War II. He later graduated in 1950 from the University of Rhode Island, formerly RI State College, with a B.S. degree in engineering. He was a former member of the Newport Saltwater Fishing Club, a former member of the Middletown Zoning Board and Sewer Commission and was a Licensed Professional Engineer with the State of RI. Following his retirement, he worked part-time at McLaughlin Research Group. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his children, Carrie Brothers of Golden, CO, Harry Ward of Nashua, NH and Paul Ward of Middletown, RI; and two grandsons, Andrew Ward of Vermont and Ethan Ward of New Hampshire.A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
