Middletown, RI - Henry C. Rosa, Sr., a resident of Heatherwood, formerly of Rosa Road Middletown, passed away at Newport Hospital on Thursday, December 6, 2007, after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Rose H. Silvia Rosa of Middletown to whom he was married for 66 years. Born in Newport, RI on December 14, 1916, he was the son of the late Domingos and Filomena Lacerda Rosa.Henry graduated from Rogers High School and the Thibodoux School of Business. He worked briefly as an accountant, then for NUSC as a planner and estimator, retiring after 35 years. He was a master electrician with his own business, Rosa Electric. He served his country as a member of the Seebees US Navy Reserves. He was a 60 year member of the IBEW, belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a member of Jesus Saviour Church. Henry was truly a ?planner and estimator? and enjoyed tinkering and improving existing items or inventing odd little tools for special uses. He was an avid collector of possible useful ?stuff? which he often found a new use for? or not. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and doing yard work. In his later years he excelled in solving difficult crossword puzzles. He also took over the shopping, cooking and housekeeping duties at home. He loved tweaking recipes to make them healthier. He credits healthy living, exercise and vitamins for his long healthy life. He had two children, a son the late Henry ?Hank? Rosa, Jr. and his daughter Carol Walder and her husband Jim of Little Compton, RI, two grandchildren Jeremy and Elizabeth Rosa, and two sisters Helen Oliveira of Middletown, RI, and the late Elsie Vieira. He is also survived by a daughter in-law Christine Rosa-Silvernail and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.His funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at 11:00am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 11:00am in the funeral home.
