Henry Francis Murphy

Newport, RI - Henry Francis Murphy, 78, of Newport, RI, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in Newport, RI on February 23, 1933, he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret Sargent Murphy.Mr. Murphy served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a master auto mechanic for most of his life. He loved to travel and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his brother John Murphy of Newport, RI, his niece Deborah Janise of Newport, RI, his great nephews David and Michael James, his great nephew Matthew Decker, and his great niece, Jennifer Jackson and her husband, Mitchell, and their two children Felicity and Elijah. He is preceded in death by brother, Howard Murphy, his sisters Dorothy James and Mary Gilchrest, his niece Erin Murphy, and his nephew, Michael James.His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at 9:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.
