Prudence Island, RI - Henry Paul Ferreira, 77, of 0100 Broadway, Prudence Island, died Saturday, December 17, 2005, at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was the husband of Joan Brownell Ferreira for 53 years. Born in Portsmouth, RI, on November 23, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Julia Roderick Ferreira.Mr. Ferreira was an equipment operator with the Town of Portsmouth , for 18 years, retiring in 1991. He was also the Retired Constable for the Portsmouth Police Department, having served in that position for 20 years. He also worked for RI Nurseries and Vaucluse Farm. He was a member of the Seven Castles Club and the Portuguese Federation. Mr. Ferreira was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.Henry was an avid gardener, boater, lobsterman and enjoyed clamming.Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph J. Ferreira and his wife Janice, of Little Compton, RI, and Robert J. Ferreira of Portsmouth, RI, two daughters Julie A. Barrett and her husband Greg of Portsmouth, RI, and Mary L. Dietz and her husband Charles of Portsmouth, RI, three brothers John Ferreira, Ray Ferreira, and Edward Ferreira all of Portsmouth, RI, and four sisters Cecelia Price of Salem, VA, Evelyn Rudisell of Biloxi, MS, Lorraine McBride of Portsmouth, RI, and Lydia Ferrell of Portsmouth, RI, thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.He was also the father of the late Alfred Paul Ferreira.A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at 12:00 Noon in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Wagon Fund, P.O.
