Herbert Blaine Reid Jr

Portsmouth, RI - Herbert Blaine Reid, Jr., 91, of Portsmouth died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at RI Veterans Home of Bristol, RI. He was the husband of the late Helen Marie (McCoomb) Reid.Born on April 22, 1921 in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Herbert B. and Mary (Broderick) Reid. Mr. Reid served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service. After the Navy, he worked for NUWC in the Accounting and Finance department and retired from there as well.He is survived by his children, Susan Blaine Reid of Portsmouth, RI and Herbert Blaine Reid III and his wife Caroline of Swansea, MA, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on, Friday March 1, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. His funeral will be held on Saturday March 2, 2013 at 9 am from the Connors Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Anthony's Church , 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery, 2233 Robeson Street, Fall River, MA.
