Herbert J. Sandberg

Portsmouth, RI - Herbert J. Sandberg, 84, of Portsmouth, RI, died Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Village House, Newport, RI. Herbert is survived by his loving and devoted wife Francoise van der Leeuw Sandberg. Born in New York, NY on June 20, 1923, he was the son of the late Harry O. and Claire Wolfe Sandberg. Herbert graduated from Dartmouth College in 1945 and received his Master?s degree in physics and math from Columbia University. He made his career as an executive in the avionics industry. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Juliette Sandberg Horton and her husband Schuyler of Newport, RI, Stan M. Sandberg and his wife Stacey Mayesh of New York, NY, and Claire Sandberg of Seattle, WA, and his grandchildren Cole Horton, Noah Horton, Davis Sandberg and Liv Sandberg. He was the brother of the late Stanley B. Sandberg with whom he served in World War II. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at 1:45pm in Sharon Memorial Park, 4 Canton Street, Sharon, MA.
