Herbert Walter Baker, Jr

Middletown, RI - Herbert Walter Baker, Jr., 71, of Bayview Park, Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, January 10, 2011 at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Madeline Aleicho Baker of Middletown.Born in Newport, RI on April. 6, 1939, he was the son of the late Herbert W. and Mary Amaral Baker. Herbert worked in the Newport School Department retiring in 1997, after 28 years. He was a former member of the Newport BPOE Elks. He enjoyed fishing with his kids. Herbert enjoyed painting and spending time with his family. He was also an avid Nascar racing fan.

He is survived by his sons Herbert W. Baker III and his wife Kristen Sams of Middletown, RI, and Ronald J. Baker and his wife Catherine McClymonds also of Middletown, RI, His daughters Kerri Canuel and her husband David Canuel of Middletown, RI, and Karen Kotze of Middletown, RI; He also leaves his sister Carol Thews of Rippens, WI. He leaves his granddaughters Kyrsten Baker, Brittni Baker, Alyssa Baker, Machele Harris, Christen Baker, and his grandsons Dylan Baker, David Canuel Jr. Joshua Canuel, Nicholas Canuel, Steven Baker and Johnathon Kotze. He also leaves his great grandchildren Isabel Tierno, Josiah Baker, Elisha Baker, Brianna Sergesen, Brenden Bagnell, Landon Humes, Kaylee Carlson, and Braylin Carlson. He was the brother of the late Norman Baker.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI. His funeral will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown, R.I.
