Herman Lee Parham

Newport, RI - Herman Lee Parham, 83, of 76 Warner Street, Newport, RI, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Rose Lee West Parham. Born in Talbot County, GA on Aug. 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Jim and Lucy Mae Morris Parham.Mr. Parham was raised and attended the Junction City, Talbot County, Georgia School System. He served 20 years in the Navy during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Masonic Temple Stone Mill Lodge PHA in Newport. Mr. Parham was affiliated with the Community Baptist Church where he enjoyed his favorite prayer Psalm Twenty Three. He was a member of the VFW Arthur Burton Post, the Fleet Reserve and at one time he managed the Navy Base Hobby Shop. Besides his wife he leaves a son John Parham of Newport, RI, a sister Lorice Parham Mitchell of Valdosta, GA as well as one grandson Brian Parham of Spain. Mr. Parham also leaves two great grandchildren Tasha Parham and Casandra Parham. He was the brother in law of Lena Rawls of Augusta, GA and leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.He was the grandfather of the late Jessica Parham. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 1:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, NewportBurial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Tuesday afternoon from 3-5pm in the funeral home.
