Newport, RI - Herman Victor Weed, 74, of 70 Harrison Avenue Newport, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at Village House Nursing Home Newport, RI. Born in Jamestown, RI on February 9, 1930, he was the son of the late Herman H. and Ragna Kirkeby Weed. Mr. Weed attended Newport Schools and enlisted in the United States Army in 1947 until 1950, where he was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey. After his 3 years in the Army he worked as a machinist at one time at Pratt Whitney in Connecticut. He also worked as a cook. He is survived by two sons Mark Weed and Michael Weed both of Newport, RI, two daughters Debbie Burgess of Virginia Beach, VA, and Beverly Weed of Newport, RI, a brother Irving H. Weed formerly of Newport, RI, two sisters Nanalee E. Winslow and her husband Frank Winslow of Canton, CT, and Edith L. Hughes and her husband Willie Hughes of Asheville, NC, and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Rolf Weed Kirkeby.Funeral services are private.Donations in his memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse Service of Newport and Bristol County, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
