Hilma Ovedia Christensen

Middletown, - Hilma Ovedia Helmerson Christensen, 92, of 40 Rogers Lane Middletown, formerly of Grand Rapids, MN, died Saturday, December 7, 2002 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. Born in Scanlon, MN on January 10, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Hans L. and Anna Margaret Broten Helmerson.Mrs. Christensen worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Lukes Hospital in 1932 and from 1954 to 1972 at the former Moose Lake State Hospital. She also was a local midwife and worked in private duty. Mrs. Christensen was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church. She is survived by three sons Howard E. Christensen of Middletown, RI, Richard A. Christensen of Sturgeon Lake, MN, and Gerald T. Christensen of Grand Rapids, MN, her daughter Beverly A. Barresi of Houston, TX, nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Alphild L. Nelson and Mildred L. Shanda. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2002, at 12:00PM, in St. Peters Lutheran Church, 525 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
