Hope Blakeley

Middletown, RI - Hope Sands Blakeley, 92, of Tusitala in Middletown, died on November 2, 2009 at Newport Hospital after a brief illness.She was the wife of the late G. Bogart Blakeley. Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 15, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Harold A. Sands and Mrs. Roland Knaster.Mrs. Blakeley lived in London, England until 1937. She returned to the United States to live with her maternal grandmother Mrs. J. Franklin McFadden of Radnor, PA where she made her debut in 1938. During her lifetime Mrs. Blakeley was a defender of all animals, both domestic and wild and worked on many charities on their behalf. She leaves behind a daughter Hope Sands Kirk of NYC and a son Bogart Blakeley of Bradley, ME, two granddaughters and four great grandchildren.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 7, at 11:00 am in St. Columba Berkeley Memorial Chapel, 55 Vaucluse Avenue, Middletown.
