Hope Wicher

Prudence Island, RI - Hope Lambert Wicher, 94, of 32 Chase Avenue, Prudence Island, RI, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. Born in Warwick, RI, on October 14, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Lewis K. and Bertha Moffett Lambert.Mrs. Wicher grew up in Newton, MA and attended Newton High School, she also lived in Marshfield, MA and summered on Prudence Island. Mrs. Wicher was a longtime employee of the Brockton Taunton Gas Company. She was an active bridge player, playing competively. Mrs. Wicher belonged to the Nature Conservancy on Prudence Island. She lived on Prudence Island for the last 30 years as a year round residence. She is survived by her son Douglas L. Wicher of Prudence Island, RI, her daughter Carol Knight of Newport, RI, her sister Constance Philbrick of Abington, MA, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late John L. Knight and sister of the late Louis Kemp Lambert Jr., Paul Lambert, and Virginia Stephens.
