Howard Libby

Portsmouth, RI - Howard Libby, 90, of Aquidneck Place, Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at home. He was the husband of the late Mildred Bourne Libby. Born in Portland, Maine, on November 25, 1916, he was the son of the late Howard and Florence Knight Libby. The Libby family moved to Newport at the time of the Great Depression, 1929, in order to pursue lobstering. From here Bud became a member of Rogers High School class of 1936. Bud began teaching in the 1940?s, continuing for 33 years. After graduation, he worked for the Newport Electric Corporation and also as a crane operator for the Weyerhauser Corporation. He is survived by his sons Kenneth Libby of Port Orange, FL, Richard Libby of Portsmouth, RI, and Robert Libby of Craftsburg Common, VT, and his daughter Kathy Rarity of Arlington, VA. Funeral services will be private and calling hours are omitted.
