Newport, RI - Hugo Carlo Genga, 85, of 398 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, formerly of 7 Loyola Terrace, Middletown, RI, died Monday, December 3, 2007 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI. He was the husband of the late Florence Elizabeth Morin Genga. Born in White River, Canada, on August 11, 1922, he was the son of the late Biagio and Ines Leonardo Genga.Mr. Genga was a WWII veteran of the US Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines. For 50 years, Hugo Genga owned and operated the Genga Brothers Construction Company. Mr. Genga was a member of the RI Carpenters Local union and started the Newport Contractors Association. He was a member of St. Joseph?s Church and the Elks Lodge of Newport. Hugo was a member of the Order of Redmen and was active with their bowling league. He and his brother Eno started a Bocce league in Newport, and remained active with that for many years. He is survived by his son Curt Genga of Newport, RI, his daughter Karen Silvia of Pompano Beach, FL, two brothers Eno Genga and John Genga both of Newport, RI, a sister Mary Jackson of Newport, RI, two grandsons John Silvia and Alexander Genga, and one great granddaughter Ashley Silvia, his sister in-law Irene Fuerch of Newport, RI, and many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 8:30 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held the morning of from 8:30 to 9:30 am in the funeral home.
