Newport, RI - Ida Lewis Jansen Case, 99, of 16 Fowler Avenue, Newport, RI, died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of the late Everett Bartlett Case. Born in Newport, RI on December 7, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Everd and Mary Kenney Jansen.Mrs. Case is the only person ever born in the Lime Rock Lighthouse, where her father became the lighthouse keeper after Ida Lewis, for whom she was named. The Lime Rock Lighthouse is now the Ida Lewis Yacht Club, of which she was made an honorary lifetime member. Mrs. Case enjoyed sewing and gardening, having received an honorable mention for Newport in Bloom. She was a former communicant of St. Augustins, St. Marys and St. Josephs, but more recently of Jesus Savior. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a fabulous story teller and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Cathleen Iassogna and her husband Thomas of Bridgeport, CT, her son, Norman J. Case and his wife Betty of Indian Head, MD, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.She was the mother of the late John Case and Everett Case. She was sister of the late Cathleen Martin, Thomas Jansen and Edward Jansen. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at 11:00am, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
