Middletown, RI - Irene A. Sillari, 95, of Forest Ave, Middletown, RI, formerly of Eastchester, NY, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in New York, NY on March 4, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ermelinda Rai Anselmi.She was the wife of the late Eugene F. Sillari, whom she wed in 1937. In 1953, her husband Eugene entered the Foreign Service of the US State Department. For the next 25 years, they lived in many parts of the world, including Italy, Belgium, Romania, Canada, and Washington, DC. She met noted international dignitaries and celebrities, and learned the languages of the countries in which they lived, including French, Italian, and Romanian. She was also a member of the American Womens Club, an organization of Americans working overseas. Irene became a fabulous hostess and entertainer. Irene also loved sports. She was a die hard Yankees and Jets fan, a bridge player, and an avid golfer, even playing a round at Pebble Beach. She was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, NY and a lifelong Democrat. At home, she loved her dogs, her own Dachshunds and her daughters dogs Buddy and Daisy. She is survived by daughters Barbara Cook and her husband Ed of Dallas, GA, and Judith Branch and her husband Steve of Newport, RI; a grandson Christopher Morgan and his wife Beth; and a granddaughter Jennifer Childers and her husband Taurus; three great grandchildren, Tray Childers, and twin sisters Anna and Alexandra Childers, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Peter, Edward, and Walter Anselmi, Lena Brunelli, Louise Anselmi, Jennie Mazzari, and Evelyn Lucchi. Her funeral will be held on Monday, April 14, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Westchester.
