- Irene ?Nanee? AmaralWatts, 78, of 100 Third Street Newport, died Friday, April 12, 2002 at the home of her daughter in Portsmouth. She was the wife of the late retired Newport Police Detective, Sgt. George W. Watts Jr. Born in Fall River, MA on Oct. 31, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joao Amaral and the late Francelina Sousa Amaral. Mrs. Watts worked at the Newport Torpedo Station during World War II, at the former Manuel Brothers Movers and Storage Company as a shipping clerk and more recently as a CNA at the Newport Hospital. She is survived by son George W. ?Bill? Watts of Newport, RI, son Robert J. Watts of Longwood, FL, son Michael J. Watts of Newport, RI, son Jeffrey Brant of Middletown, RI, son Matthew Watts of Newport, RI, son Kyle Watts of Newport, RI, daughter Brenda McCollum of Portsmouth, RI, brother Norman Amaral of Westport, MA, and sister Odelia Baker of Sunrise, FL. She was the sister of the late Manuel Amaral, Joseph Amaral, John Amaral, Augustine Amaral, Francelina Baker, Mary Baker, Laura Aroujo, Gilda Millington, and Lydia Kirby.Her funeral services will be Wednesday, April 17, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00am at St. Joseph Church, Broadway at Mann Avenue, Newport.
