Irene F. Soares

Irene F. McGreavy Soares Portsmouth, - Irene F. McGreavy Soares, 74, of 107 Easton Avenue, Portsmouth, formerly of Fall River, MA, died Friday, October 29, 2004, at home.She was the wife of James Soares. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Born in Fall River, MA, on July 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Sunderland McGreavy. Mrs. Soares was a Graduate of Sacred Heart School. Mrs. Soares was the co founder and secretary treasurer of Aquidneck Fasteners Inc. of Tiverton, RI. She had also worked at Arkwright Warehouse and Duffys Pharmacy in Tiverton, RI. She was a member of the Rexall Camping Club, Sea Rex Camping Club, the Good Sam Club, and a former member of the Wampanaog Camping Club. Mrs. Soares was very involved in the rebuilding of the Common Fence Point Community Hall in the late 1960s. Besides her husband she is survived by a son Michael Soares of Tiverton, RI, four daughters Sheila Cooper of Portsmouth, RI, Lisa Whittier of Portsmouth, RI, Kathleen St. Laurent of Portsmouth, RI, and Diane Dallow of Tiverton, RI, a brother John McGreavy of Tiverton, RI, nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Paul Soares and Joseph Soares, and sister of the late Edward ?Ted? McGreavy, William ?Bill? McGreavy, Francis ?Frank? McGreavy, Mary Berube, and Catherine McGreavy.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at 10:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River, MA. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Outreach, 502 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA, 02720.
