Irene Frances Moniz

Irene F. Moniz, 91, of Portsmouth, RI, died on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Heatherwood Health Care Center in Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late John Moniz.Born in Portsmouth, RI on January 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the Augustus and Margaret (DeArruda) Pacheco.Mrs. Moniz worked in the Accounting Department of the Officer's Club on the Newport Naval Base before retiring.She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Moniz; her niece, Melinda Murphy; her cousin, Peggy Carlone; and her great-niece, Aidan Murphy, all of Portsmouth, RI.Funeral services will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 2374 Post Road, Suite 206, Warwick, RI 02886 or to the Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
