Irene Mary Little

Irene Mary Fayerweather Little, 79, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.She was born Irene Mary Hazard Fayerweather on January 8, 1933 in South Kingstown, RI. Irene was raised in Newport, RI and graduated from Rogers High School. She was preceded in death by her first hustand, Earl Smith and by her second husband, Walter Little, Jr.Irene retired from Electric Boat in Quonset Point, RI in 1997, after more than 20 years of service.Irene loved to travel, and had realized a lifelong wish to visit the Grand Canyon. She was passionate about gardening and was especially fond of visiting tea rooms around the New England area. Irene was the loving mother of four children. She is survived by two daughters, Ethel Marie Long, of Phenix City, AL and Jacqueline Audrey Little, of Coventry, RI. She is preceded in death by two children, James Vincent Smith and Sherryanne Smith. She is also survived by her siblings, Nellie Mane of Warwick, RI, Eddy Jordan, Carolyn Jordan and Margaret Baily of Providence, RI and Alfred Hazard of New York, and is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Johnson, Helen Delores Williams and Brenda Joyce Little, and a brother-in-law Robert Williams, all of Richmond, VA.She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Eugene Smith of Fall River, MA; Geoffrey Smith of Middletown, RI; Melissa Beecham of Columbus, GA; Barry Walmsley, Jr. of Overland Park, KS; Jermaine Walmsley of Mesa, AZ; Mary Walmsley of Columbus, GA; Matthew Walmsley of Kansas City, KS; Odessa Jefferson of Mount Vernon, NY; Christopher Smith and Lindsay Smith, both of South Kingstown, RI. Irene is also survived by forty five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends. Irene Little was a noble, cheerful and generous woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 17 from 7-9 pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway in Newport, RI.
