Irene Mary Souza

Newport, RI - Irene M. O?Connor Souza, 76, of 21 Connection Street, Newport, died Thursday, January 6, 2005, at the Florida Hospital, Kissimmee, FL.She was the wife of the late Ernest Souza. Born in Newport, RI, on November 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John Alowishis and Mary Ellen Crowley OConnor. Mrs. Souza was a Communicant of St. Augustins Church in Newport. She had worked at the former GE Monowatt Plant in Newport for several years. Mrs. Souza also enjoyed sewing. She is survived by two sons Ernest J. Souza of Kissimmee, FL, and Paul E. Souza of Fort Wainwright, Alaska, two brothers Tom OConnor of Lebanon, TN, and Billy Murphy of Hampton, VA, three sisters Agnes Blair of Afton, OK, Marion DeCotis of Middletown, RI, and Paula Sousa of Middletown, RI and Ft. Meyers, FL, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late John OConnor, Francis Murphy, John Murphy, Michael Murphy, Joseph Murphy, Catherine Behan, and Theresa Duponte.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2005, at 9:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, in St. Augustins Church, Carroll Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
