Irving Curley Dufault

Irving Leo ?Curley? Dufault, 80, of Ward Avenue, Middletown, formerly of Bayview Park, Middletown, died Sunday, September 1, 2002 at Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol, RI. He was the husband of the late Mary Ellen Lyons Dufault. Born in Boston, MA on March 5, 1922, he was the son of Ralph Henry Dufault and Helena Mary Nixon Dufault. Mr. Dufault was retired from service in the US Navy. He served in WWII, the Cuban conflict and Vietnam. He retired as a Master Chief after a total of 39 years. He later worked for the Newport Post Office. Mr. Dufault was a member of St. Josephs Church in Newport and was active with the soup kitchen. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Church #256 Newport, the VFW # 4486 in Middletown, the Newport BPO Elks Lodge, the National Association Civilian Conservation Corps, and National Association of Uniformed Services. He is survived by five sons Robert I. Dufault of Middletown, RI, Barry M. Dufault of East Greenwich, RI, Gerald P. Dufault, of Newport, RI, Gene P. Dufault of Narragansett, RI, and Raymond F. Dufault of Charlottesville, VA, one brother Stanley Ralph Dufault of Santa Rosa, CA, and 17 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.His funeral will be Thursday, September 5 at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Joseph?s Church Broadway and Mann Avenue Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made to the RI Veterans Home 480 Metacom Avenue Bristol, RI 02809 or to the Elks Lodge 141 Pelham Street Newport, RI 02840.
