Newport, RI - Isabel Jesus Neves Garcia, 87, of Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI, died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the nursing home. She was the wife of the late Serafim Garcia.Born in Pico, the Azores, on January 9, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Jose M. and Isabel Neves Neves.Mrs. Garcia was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. She loved to knit and sew for her family, grandchildren and friends.She is survived by her son Julian A. Neves of Middletown, RI, her step children Manuel Garcia of Portsmouth, RI, Joseph Garcia of Bakersfield, NC, John Garcia of Waterbury, CT, and Mary OConnor of Newport, RI, her sisters Helena Neves of San Diego, CA, Lina Simas of Pico the Azores and Conceicao Serpa of Pico the Azores, her brother Pedro Neves of Pico the Azores, her grandsons Michael Neves of Portsmouth, RI and Steven Neves of Middletown, RI, her step grandchildren, Dawn Duarte of Portsmouth, RI, Donna Valente of North Dartmouth, MA, Daniel Garcia of RI, Philip Garcia of VA, Mark Garcia of Bakersfield, NC, Derick Garcia of CT, Kelly O?Connor and James O?Connor of Newport, RI, ten great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and seven step great-great grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.
