Isabella L. Monteiro

Newport, RI - Isabella L. Gonsalves Monteiro, 66, of 32 Chapel Terrace Newport, died Friday, September 17, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Manuel Monteiro who died on April 30, 2004. Born in Taunton, MA on December 10, 1937, she was the daughter of the late James and Antonia Monteiro Gonsalves. Mrs. Monteiro was a communicant of St. Marys Church in Newport. She was also a past member of the Taunton Cape Verdean Association. Mrs. Monteiro was an avid sports fan, always rooting for the Red Sox and New England Patriots. She is survived by two sons Michael A. Monteiro and Kenneth V. Monteiro both of Newport, RI, her daughter Diane L. Monteiro of Newport, RI, four grandchildren, a brother Robert Gonsalves of New Bedford, MA, and five sisters Anna Barros of New Bedford, MA, Mary Lou Antone of Newport, RI, Dolores Barboza and Joanne Lopes both of Taunton, MA, and Antonia Monteiro of Newport, RI. She was preceded in death by three brothers Samuel, James, and Alfred Gonsalves, and two sisters Hilda Avellar and Amelia Sanders.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport.
