Middletown, RI - Italo Joseph Perlingiero, 75, of 65 Seascape Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Newport Hospital surrounded by his five children. He was the former husband of Christine Lewis Perlingiero. Born in Middletown, RI on November 1, 1932, he was the son of the late Vincent and Lucia Arminio Perlingiero.Mr. Perlingiero served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After the Navy he worked with his father and uncle in the family business in construction and masonry until he started his own business Perlingiero General Contract for 10 years. Mr. Perlingiero was a member of the Middletown Senior Center. He loved working with wood, making things for the Robert Potter League and for family and friends. He is survived by his children, David R. Perlingiero of Portsmouth, RI, Lauren A. Clark and her husband Max of Tiverton, RI, Kathleen Cozzens and her husband Michael of Saunderstown, RI, Melissa P. Kyle and her husband David of Portsmouth, RI, and Janet L. Perlingiero of East Greenwich, RI, his sisters Clara A. Perlingiero of Silver Spring, MD and Olga P. Probert of Middletown, RI, his grandchildren, Jonathon David Perlingiero of Portsmouth, RI, Kelsey Lynn Perlingiero of Globe, AZ, Megan A. Genga of Tiverton, RI, Sharon M. Genga of Fall River, MA, Jacob A. Clark of Tiverton, RI, Jessica A. K. Phelps of Palm Bay, FL, Christopher B. Kyle of Portsmouth, RI and Mikayla C. Perlingiero of East Greenwich, RI, his great grandson Christian Asters of Fall River, MA and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Claudio Perlingiero, Dino Perlingiero, Dolores R. Perlingiero and Edda Green. His funeral will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport. Burial will be in Island Annex Cemetery in Newport.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, from 6-8pm in the funeral home.
