Jack O. Linnens, 86, of 3511 Maple Court, Falls Church, RI, died Friday, January 25, 2008 at his daughter's home in Falls Church, VA. He was the husband of the late Anne Elizabeth Philipovich Linnens.Born in Newton, Kansas on February 22, 1921, he was the son of the late Claude Minor and Welsie Hand Linnens.Jack Linnens was a graduate of Newton Senior High School in Newton Kansas in 1939. Jack served in the US Navy for 20 years, retiring as a Senior Chief Torpedo man. He was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and three times survived attacks on his ships during WWII. After retiring from the US Navy, he worked for 20 more years in Middletown, at the Naval Underwater Systems Center. Jack also worked for Ocean Technologies Inc, continuing to use his experience with Torpedo's for the local defense contractors.Mr. Linnens was a faithful communicant of St. Josephs Church. He was active with many church activities, including the Adult Education Program, and RCI- the Rite of Christian Initiation, as well as teaching in the CCD program.He is survived by three children, a son John Minor Linnens of Harwich, MA, and daughters Paula Hannah Ulanowski of Scituate, MA, and Claudia Linnens Morgenrood of Falls Church, VA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Terry Lee, Todd, Jackie, Kevin, Kelly, Derek and late grandson Sean and 7 great grandchildren.His funeral will be held on Thursday January 31, at 10:00 from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.
