James A. Kile

Tiverton, RI - James Albert Kile, 79, of Tiverton, RI, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of 48 yrs. of Bette-Ann Kile. Born in Berwick, PA on February 15, 1933, Jim was the son of the late John Wesley and Carrie (Hemmig) Kile. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Jeanne Rickert.After high school he joined the Navy and his 1st duty station was Newport, where he served in personnel and helped with the reopening of Boot Camp and OCAS, which had been closed since WWII. His tour of duty was aboard the USS Lake Champlain during the Korean War. Completing his stint of service, he returned to PA, married then moved to Boston where he was employed by Raytheon. He worked 12 years in the government contract electronic field, management group. In the 60's Jim attended Bucknett Univ. (PA) and Northeastern (Boston) and made a career change. He went into sales and then into real estate title insurance from which he retired from in 1998. Jim always found time to be with his children. They were very active in sports, so he would re-schedule his client calling to coincide with their schedules. Jim and his wife followed their children's activities through High School, College and beyond and were carrying on that tradition with their beloved grandchildren.Always a bowler, he became eligible to join the Pro Bowlers Tour in his earlier years in PA. While living in Attleboro, MA he was a member of the Second Congregation al Church and on many of their committees, incl. their bowling team. He as a member of the Attleboro Kiwanis Club, the Masons and the AHS Booster Club. In 2001, upon moving to Tiverton, RI, Jim started a bowling league and card groups in the new retirement community of Countryview Estates. He has been very active on various committees there, incl. the Countryview Residence Assoc. Board. He volunteered locally for Meals on Wheels. As a member of the First Congregational Church in Bristol, RI, Jim was again on many committees, incl. the 2005 4th of July Float Comm. and delivering Ecumenical Meals. The family Summered at Bristol, RI where he was active in the Bristol Narrows Improvement Assoc. IN addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Nikki Ann Smolczynski husband Vincent of Allentown, PA, James Kile, Jr. of Deltona, FL, Wesley Kile and wife Lisa of Lewistown, PA; Susan Allen and husband Eric of Carlisle, PA; Sandra Nardi and husband Bill of Damascus, MD and eleven grandchildren, also his brother Jack Kile of Calif., his sister Dorothy Pritchard of North Carolina, his niece Dottie Jean Martz of PA, along with many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11AM in the Amicable Congregational Church, 3736 Main Road, Rte. 77, Tiverton Four Corners, Tiverton, RI.Burial will be at a later date in the North Burial Ground, Bristol, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: Columbia County Historical Genealogical Society, 225 Market Street, PO Box 360, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 or the First Congregational Church, Historical Properties Committee, 281 High Street, Bristol, RI 02809.
