James A. Lathan

Jamestown, RI - James A. Lathan, 79, of Jamestown, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. Born in Jamestown, RI on September 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Oscar J. and Evelyn (Fletcher) Lathan. Mr. Lathan was in the Merchant Marines for many years. James was the owner of Sharon Construction. He also spent many years traveling and competing in ballroom dance competitions winning many titles and trophies. He is survived by his sister Evelyn E. Hassell of Riverside, RI, two nieces and six nephews.He was the brother of the late Barbara E. Romer and Arthur J. Lathan both of Jamestown.All services are private.
