James Boyd

James W. Boyd Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 3, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and laughter. Born on July 15, 1942, in Boston, MA, Jim spent his life in devotion to his family, his country, and his passions.

A proud Army veteran, Jim achieved the rank of Private First Class. His dedication to service continued as he embarked on a fulfilling career as a postman at the New Bedford Post Office, where he worked for over 20 years, bringing joy and connection to his community.

Jim was more than just a postman; he was an enthusiastic football player whose competitive spirit was matched only by his love for the ocean. An avid kayaker, he cherished every moment spent exploring the serene waters near his Portsmouth, RI home. His artistic talents flourished in painting, where he expressed his creativity.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Edna Boyd; his son, James Boyd III; his daughters, Joan Curtin, and Jennifer Wood; his step daughter, Althea Dayola; and his brother, and 2 sisters; and 8 grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice, who supported James and provided excellent care.
