Middletown, RI ? James C. Blaney Sr., formerly of 3 Park Drive, Middletown, died on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Eleanor Slater Hospital in Cranston. He was the husband of the late Agnes Rose McNally Blaney. Born in Jamaica Plain, MA, on September 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Daniel and Matilda McCormack Blaney. Mr. Blaney served in the US Navy during World War II. Until his retirement, he was an employee of the Federal Civil Service. He was a communicant of St. Lucy?s Church in Middletown. Mr. Blaney was the nephew and name sake of the late James C. Blaney, who lost his life aboard the Titanic. He is survived by his daughters Alice L. Couser of Newport, RI, Judith A. Blaney of Newport, RI, and Linda S. Blaney of Newport, RI, a daughter in-law Rhonda Blaney and a brother William Blaney of West Roxbury, MA, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was the father of the late James C. Blaney Jr., and Susan Marie Blaney, and the brother of the late John Blaney, Daniel Blaney, Catherine Connare and Mary Mogan. His funeral will be private. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2006, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
