MIDDLETOWN, RI - James F. Reynolds, 78, of 23 Philips Avenue, Middletown, died Friday, April 22, 2005 at Miriam Hospital, Providence, RI. He was the husband of Catherine T. Connery Reynolds for 52 years. Born in Wilksbarre, PA on July 24, 1926, he was the son of the late Thomas and Josephine Cain Reynolds.Mr. Reynolds was a graduate of Rogers High School. He went on to receive his Bachelors of Education from the Rhode Island College of Education and then his MA in Audio Visual Arts from Syracuse University. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army. Mr. Reynolds was a school teacher for over 30 years in the Newport School System and later became director of the Audio Visual Department. He was a Past Grand Knight for the Middletown Kinghts of Columbus #4201 and he also served as District Deputy for the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Newport Elks, and was an avid golfer belonging to the Green Valley Country Club and was an avid swimmer and enjoyed traveling with his wife. Jim had also worked as the manager at Second Beach in Middletown. Besides his wife he leaves three sons Michael J. Reynolds and his wife Tina of Portsmouth, RI, Peter G. Reynolds of Middletown, RI, Patrick G. Reynolds and his wife Arlene of Middletown, RI, a daughter Mary C. Silvia and her husband Harry of Portsmouth, RI. He also leaves five grandchildren Brittany and Ashley Reynolds and Eileen M. Silvia all of Portsmouth, RI, and Gina E. Reynolds and Step grandson Bryan Jestings both of Middletown, RI.He was the grandfather of the late James A. Silvia and brother of the late Thomas J. Reynolds, Josephine Reynolds and Rose Kesler. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at 8:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00am, in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held in the Memorial Funeral Home, on Tuesday from 4-8pm.
