James Francis Roberts Jr

Portsmouth, - James Francis Roberts, Jr., 82, of 80 Ormerod Avenue Portsmouth, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Mary Kathleen Doyle Weir Roberts. Born in Fall River, MA on September 12, 1920, he was the son of the late James F. Sr. and Mary A Dooley Roberts.Mr. Roberts worked for 50 years for IBEW Local 104 retiring in 1988. He was a World War II Army Veteran, where he served in the European Theater. Mr. Roberts was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He is survived by four sons James F. Roberts III of Port St. John, FL, Peter D. Roberts, Maurice E. Roberts and Mark T. Roberts all of Portsmouth, RI, his brother Roger R. Roberts of Newport, RI, twenty five grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, two step sons William C. Griswald of Portsmouth, RI, and Daniel E. Griswald of Cumberland, RI, and his step daughter Kathleen M. Doyle of Salisbury, NH. He was the father of the late Matthew T. Roberts and the brother of the late Henry Roberts, Robbie Roberts, Maurice Roberts and Mary Ellen Roberts. His funeral will be held on Friday, May 16, 2003, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
