James ?HD? Nelson, 26, of 435 Cherry Street, Fall River, MA, formerly of Portsmouth, RI and Morton, PA, died Friday, October 1, 2004 in Berkeley, MA. Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 10, 1977, he was the son of CWO Alycee Nelson-Ruley USMC Ret. of Morton, PA and the fiancee of Danielle Laferriere of Fall River, MA and Little Compton, RI. Mr. Nelson attended schools in Springfield, PA, Stafford, VA and Portsmouth, RI. He lived in Fall River, MA for the last nine years. Mr. Nelson was involved in The Sunday Basketball league in Boston, MA and at the Bank Street Armory in Fall River, MA. He was active at the YMCA in Fall River with the youth basketball program and the Sunday Football program at Diman High School. Mr. Nelson was employed by J J Electric of Warwick, RI. Besides his mother and his fianc he is survived by his brother Drew Edward Nelson of Bridgewater, MA, his grandmother Betty J. Nelson of Woodlyn, PA, his uncle Norman E. Jenkins of Woodlyn, PA, his birth mother Betti Jayne Nelson of Perry Point, MD, his nephew Lance E. Nelson and sister in-law Brenda Bowley Nelson both of Portsmouth, RI. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at 7:30 PM in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 11, 2004, at 11:00AM in First Baptist Church, in Morton, PA. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, in West Chester, PA.
