Middletown, RI - James J. Carney, 74, of Middletown, RI, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, October 26, 2011.He was the husband of Kathleen Tabrum Carney. Born in Newport, RI on January 26, 1937, he was the son of the late James and Loretta Silvia Carney.Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, James A. Carney of Marlborough, CT, Colleen A. Karpovitz and her husband Thomas of Middletown, RI, and Michael P. Maloney and his wife Barbara of Providence, RI, his brothers, John Skip Carney and Joseph Mickey Carney both of Middletown, RI, his grandchildren, Shannon Pereira and her husband Jason of Pawtucket, RI, Sean Maloney of Providence, RI, Katrina Karpovitz of Middletown, RI and Katie Maloney of Providence, RI, and his great grandson Dylan Karpovitz. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011, from 4-7:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.A memorial service will being at 6:00pmBurial will be private.
