Portsmouth, RI - James John Correia, 74, of 50 Dexter Street, Portsmouth, RI, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. He was the husband of the late Judith ?Judie? M. Silvia Correia. Born in Portsmouth, RI on June 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Alfred and Mary Anselemo Correia.Mr. Correia served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a carpenter for 42 years, retiring in 1990. Mr. Correia was a communicant of St. Anthonys Church. He received the Jefferson Award for the PACC Club for running a bus for the handicapped. Mr. Correia was a member of the Portsmouth American Club. He worked as a school bus driver for the Portsmouth School Department. He is survived by his daughters Diane Kingston of Woonsocket, RI, and Lynn Correia of Newport, RI, his brother Adley W. Correia of Portsmouth, RI, his sister Connie V. Mathias of Portsmouth, RI, five grandchildren David Kingston, Jr., Marc Kingston, April Correia, Jennifer Kigston, and Lisa Kingston, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alfred Correia, Henry Correia, Everett Correia, Mary Mello and Alma Correia. His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2006, at 9:00am, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Portsmouth Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 8, 2006, from 4-8, in the Connors Funeral Home.
