Newport, - James Michael Schenck, 58, of 17 Channing Street Newport, died Friday, November 1, 2002 at home.He was the husband of Jeanne Hasman-Schenck. Born in Newport, RI on January 10, 1944, he was the son of the late Casper George and Betty Jarvis Schenck.Mr. Schenck owned and operated Aquidneck Kennel and Grain Inc. located on Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown since 1974. He had previously worked at Raytheon in Portsmouth in the sonar systems division. He was a graduate of De La Salle Academy and Bryant College. He served for six years in the Navy as a electronic technician. He was a Past President of the Middletown Lions Club, a coach and member of the board of directors for the Middletown Little League where he initiated a girls softball program. He was a coach in the Newport County Hockey League serving as program director for the bantom and girls hockey, who won several league championship and played in the National Championships on three occasions. He was a member of the 4H club, a dog obedience instructor and he coached Babe Ruth teams for three years. He is survived by wife Jeanne Schenck of Newport, RI, two sons Bryan Schenck of Lowell, MA, and Jeffrey Schenck of Portsmouth, RI, three daughters Christine Vaks of Milton, FL, Jessica Hasman-Redding of Swansea, MA, and Erica Hasman-Schenck of Newport, RI, four brothers Kip Schenck of Middletown, RI, William Schenck of Warwick, RI, John Schenck of Tiverton, RI, and Robert Schemck, USAF of Lake-M-Heath, England, three sisters Mary Martin of Pace, FL, Barbara Barnes of Pensacola, FL, and Vivian Goff North Kingstown, RI, and four grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport.
