James R. "Frog" Smith

Portsmouth, RI - James R. "Frog" Smith, 56, of Portsmouth, RI, died on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Newport Hospital. Born in Newport, RI on June 16, 1958, he was the son of Mary (Rodrigues) Plumley of Portsmouth, RI and the late James Edward Smith. Mr. Smith worked as a truck driver for many years in Florida. He loved fishing, painting and enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. Besides his mother, he is survived by his son, James T. Smith of Florida; his siblings, William Smith of Portsmouth, RI and Lillian Souza of Middletown, RI; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Eubanks. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway, Newport, RI.
