James Raymond Chantre Middletown, RI - James Raymond Chantre, 59, of 283 Forest Avenue, Middletown, died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at West South Hospital, Atlanta, GA.He was the former husband of Jean Milton of Fayettville, NC. Born in New Bedford, MA on November 8, 1945, he was the son of Mary DeMello Chantre of Middletown and the late Manuel O. Chantre who passed away on January 1, 2004. Mr. Chantre was in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a salesman for various department stores. Mr. Chantre had also worked as a radio announcer for the Fall River Station until the station closed. He attended Berkley Peckham Grammar School and Middletown High School. Besides his mother and former wife he is survived by his daughter Capt. Mary Margaret Chantre United States Army stationed in Kuwait, his brother Anthony Chantre of Jacksonville, FL and his granddaughter Sondria Chantre of Ft. Benning Georgia..His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 11, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
